
The Student Union at the University of St. Gallen (SHSG) has been the official representative body of all students since 1921 and counts over 200 dedicated volunteer members. As a politically neutral component body of the university it represents the interests of the students towards all stakeholder groups of the university and offers a wide range of services related to student life.
Participation in all university bodies
Representing the students' interests mainly entails participation in all university bodies and in a number of commissions of the academic self-administration. Among the services offered are the gastronomical establishments [ad]hoc and Meeting Point, the relaxation room, the student magazine Prisma, and the Ressort International.
Continuous development as a focus
Among the focus areas of the Student Union are the continuous development of the university, improvements in teaching and campus life as well as the enrichment of cultural and leisure offers. The coordination of over 100 societies active at the university is also among its tasks.
Structure
The two most important institutions are the Board, which leads the operative activities of the Student Union under the leadership of an executive presidential team of two, and the Student Parliament which acts as legislative body by determining strategic goals with its decisions.
